Re: Deteriorating Gravel Roads - No Diesel For Graders?

Post by Dzombo »

At least this is positive.

Friend of mine has been in Kruger for the past 10 days.
Apparently the sand roads south of Tschokwane are in a shocking condition.

But, to be fair....I seem to recall reading that the sand roads are only graded in the dry season / winter ???

Best time for grading is after slight rains, Dzombs!

But they have dropped the ball badly here. It is the first time I have seen potholes in dirt roads, above the corrugations.

Serious care and knowledge is needed, instead of awarding tenders that take months, as always.

Oh, ok.
I read (really wish I could remember where), that if a road gets graded and then it rains soon after, it gets damaged again -O-

-O-

They generally know what they are doing, the experienced graders!

So, will they not be able to grade again until the next rainy season ??
