Wild Earth daily Safaris is what got me through Covid Lock Down ..sad to see how Sabi Sands has changed since Commercialisation though. All the Properties were 4-5 time bigger and less of them as a result , all family Holiday farms ..My Family had 2 Properties 'Sparta farm ' Half share with Grandfather Varty now Londolozi ..Used to go and stay for Free as long as I liked until Guest came along Bye Sparta ..Then the other Farm was Charleston Next to Kruger Boundary Owned by my other 2 Aunts ..As a Teenager walking unhindered in that Bush , Shooting Impala for the Pot Now the Southern Third of Mala Mala just N of Kirkmans Camp which is on Bill Roche's old Farm Kingston ..Now its 2 way Radios , Barging SUV's ,Electricity , Fenced in Lodges , $$$$$, Hollywood Chandeliers and lots of well heeled not interested in the bush Guests who prefer Beauty Salons at these places more than learning about the bush. We had a Long Drop , Pots of Food cooked on an open fire , Parafin Lights , a Donkey Geyser , unfenced very basic 1926 style Kruger Huts and 8000 hectres to walk on instead ..I miss that terribly and wouldnt spend a cent there now as I prefer Kruger Style self Drive to places like Grootvlei dam than to be Schlepped down a Lodge Tarmaced Airstrip in a crowded OSV radio blaring
