Fishing in National Parks
"Conservation fees are still applicable"
And will presumably be used to pay people to clean up the flotsam and jetsam from the fishermen, or to rehabilitate wildlife that has become entangled in fishing line?
Re: Augrabies Falls National Park
I will never understand the philosophy of catch and release, but then - I grew up in an environment where catch and release fishing is considered and banned
One day some clever ones will invent catch and release hunting of mammals as a conservation tool done by sport hunters With rhino for example the hunters could even have the horn for a trophy
Sorry, could not resist

Re: Augrabies Falls National Park
This is not acceptable in a National Park. NO FISHING BY THE PUBLIC!
Catch and release still kills some fish, have seen it!
Not just money-making, but some anglers licking their lips at protected record fish there!

Not new! Fly fishing in the Richterveld and most likely angling in some other parks already done.

Fishing permits are available at Addo Elephant, Agulhas, Bontebok, |Ai-|Ais/Richtersveld and West Coast. Angling has been stopped at Tsitsikamma because of the drastic decline of rocky shoreline species.
