Spent the day in the heart of Snowdonia at Plas Tan-Y-Bwlch in Maentwrog. Highlight of the organised day out looking for the wildlife that inhabit this special area were the Elephant Hawk-moths Deilephila elpenor caught in the moth traps. They are stunning looking creatures and it was really great to get up close to these wonderful moths.

Lis, they feed exclusively on Great and Rosebay Willowherbs, so if you find the plants, you have a good chance of seeing them this time of year.

This Buff-tip Moth Phalera bukephala uses it's camouflage to make it look like a broken Birch twig.

This afternoon I made a post about biodiversity and this is a perfect example. If the Great and Rosebay Willowherbs disappear, the moth will disappear too and who knows what else
