Some old pics and some new, BJ? :-?

Can't imagine a worse fate than climbing down desert gorges in the heat for 5 days, but there you go! lol

Great scenery, and stray cat! :-)

A friend of mine did the Fish River Trail two months ago. Her pics were amazing, but her feet at the end of it...not so much! lol
Too long back to remember the injuries, but can remember the toughest part is first and progressively you get into the swing of hiking. Wonder if they had enough water, because that is the one part you can't pack all you need. ;-)

It fine when you are under 30 years old, but won't be able to take the steps down into the canyon today. You need strong knees that won't go jelly when you go down. O**

There is a more luxury one with mules carrying your stuff. A bit pricey for Saffies, but looks like an interesting excursion to go on. ;-)

When you are still you and can run like a klipspringer its fine, but must say today I wont easily go down there. The one friend that joined us was 57 years old so we should easily be doing it RP. lol lol lol

The oldies were taken in 1993 just after Namibia independence. You will note the flag on the one guys T-shirt. The cat was another one. So tame to even hitch a ride but when we got close to civilization it ran away if its life depends on it. Wonder what happened to the poor kitty. 0-

I am not sure about the luxury trail, but the one I did opens up (see the pics of the grave to get an idea) at end of the trail ending at Ai-Ais hot spring where you can relax in the warm water or sit on the stoep enjoying a nice cold one. X#X

Day 7 and Day 8: Fish River Canyon to Molopo Lodge - sleeping over at Vastrap Guest Farm

We left the Fish River Canyon late afternoon and headed to our overnight accommodation on a farm near Grunau. Instead of entering South Africa at the Mata-Mata border post we had to enter at Rietfontein, because our reservation in the park that only started a day later and we therefore could not adhere to the 2 days in the park even though we had a reservation of 6 days.

The shortest distance to the park from Gunau runs from Karasburg, north along the C11 to Aroab and east through Rietfontein border post until Molopo Lodge and north along the Nossob river to Twee Rivieren camp.
