Augrabies & Namaqualand October 2012 *

Post by nan »

Augrabies 6 - 7.10.2012

And I leave Rivieren Twee ... 250 km straight road, sad :-? yes, but not too much, not really... the adventure continues .......... Image

Arrival in Upington, discussion with the owner car rental company 0' ... eat with compatriots, where I really enjoyed myself, I go to bed relatively early, I have an appointment the next day at 9:30
My journey continues and what a beautiful way ... with Caracal, no, no, not a caracal -O (will be nice too) Caracal herself... EDIT Michele 0*\ sorry the joke doesn't work here =O: =O: =O:
After stacking the firewood that was used to stall the fridge in the trunk of the car  , into the car Caracal, we leave.
A friend with us, I think it's good for the "mental health" of my friend... if she can talk a little ;-) ... I'm not very talkative... English is a handicap 0:
I follow conversations as well as possible, but from time to time, I disconnect ... and ... I escape out the window. Fascinating landscapes, the sun, the shadows play with fields, trees ... the characters often colorful and even some shops, are also colorful and funny ...
like this one all in pink =O:

Arrived at Augrabies the chalet is not ready, so we head to the falls.
Beautiful, everything is redone, everything that was damaged during the recent heavy rains is rehabilitated. It is very impressive and I wonder how it must be with much more "open water" :-?

We put our stuff in the cottage No. 57, an employee of Sanpark just warn us that a Baboon is coming, it's nice, thank you -O not to the Baboon... to the staff \O it's allows us to keep an eye on our business

There are plenty of Dassies it's fairly new to me, pretty little critters, more or less fat, maybe should be according to the occupants of cottages and not too fierce, and a beautiful array of birds, Pale-winged Starling, Cape Waigtail , Cape Bulbul, Kalahari Scrub-Robin, Prinia...

Image Rainbow Lizard *EDITED* Broadley's Flat Lizard, thank you Toko 0/0

Image Cape Wagtail/Bergeronnette du Cap

Image he must have a big family ;-)

A light meal and we leave for the afternoon game. We go to Moon Rock, Ararat, Oranjekom, Echo Corner, where nobody reply us =O: =O: =O:
and all the nooks and crannies ... seems there would be a Caracal and Leopard somewhere 0'

The first animal is a Baboon and a small one, fairly shy, what a chance, it will not bother us ^0^

then ... à suivre ...

The "highlight" of this output is certainly 3 Black Eagles (Verreaux's Eagle) 2 adults and a younger, and more, the nest attached to the walls of rock Image

I discovered traces ... traces of large antelopes ... Elands ... we have to find them 0'

Beautiful landscapes, scenery is completely different from what I know, sort of plateau with lots of small hills with rocks, rocks and plenty of hiding places and indeed very difficult of observation Image
