Zebras are white with black stripes, not black with white stripes. It was discovered in South Africa in 1957 that dark parts of zebras fade while light parts remain unchanged. Well, I did some more research on the subject, and had some help from Dewi, and it seems as if there is no final answer to the question...some say white, some say black.
So you are all right...but I based my question on this piece of info -

"Black with white stripes. Some zebras have white fur on their bellies, which suggests that white is the background colour and the black stripes are a pattern that is added. But if you shaved a zebra, you would find a black-skinned animal underneath. As a zebra embryo develops in the uterus, it starts out black all over.
