You cannot trust anybody anymore 0= Certainly not Google :O^
Zebras are white with black stripes, not black with white stripes. It was discovered in South Africa in 1957 that dark parts of zebras fade while light parts remain unchanged. A zebra's stripes are as individual as human fingerprints and zebras can be counted by treating them like barcodes. If a photograph of a herd of zebras is fed into a computer, it can be broken down into a number of vertical strands and then read for unique patterns.
Has anybody ever shaved a zebra? O**

Well, I did some more research on the subject, and had some help from Dewi, and it seems as if there is no final answer to the question...some say white, some say black.
So you are all right...but I based my question on this piece of info -

"Black with white stripes. Some zebras have white fur on their bellies, which suggests that white is the background colour and the black stripes are a pattern that is added. But if you shaved a zebra, you would find a black-skinned animal underneath. As a zebra embryo develops in the uterus, it starts out black all over. The white stripes emerge afterwards as the genes that code for the dark pigment melanin are selectively deactivated for the hair follicles that cover certain areas of skin. This serves as effective camouflage."

(Looks like and Lis and I have similar reading lists! ^0^ )
So for means of the game, the answer is FALSE
