Ellies messing about in the water are the best :-0 Great sighting - and tick three lol \O

And I'm still in awe how much one can see in just one day!

There is a little loop that takes you down closer to the water, but when we had driven past it was already full of vehicles so we just parked on the road, but could still see part of the loop. These idiots were walking around there chatting to people in the other parked cars, and there were ellies all over the place! 0*\

Two of the bulls then decided they'd had enough and came out of the water close to the loop. One started eating and the other one disappeared into thicker bush. In the meantime, the breeding herds that we'd seen earlier were starting to cross the road, heading to the water.

The next minute we heard a loud scraping sound and a bakkie came speeding over the side of the loop and raced through the bush in front of us to get up to the road. We heard them talking to a field guide behind us...the male ellie that we couldn't see anymore had suddenly appeared on the little loop and started pushing his tusk against a Land Rover. The Land Rover reversed as quickly as they could and the ellie turned toward the bakkie, but they were parked in and had nowhere to go but through the bush!! 0: They were all extremely lucky that no-one got hurt! And it just shows how quickly they can appear out of nowhere!! 0*\

One of the breeding herds had reached the water and there were now ellies drinking on the side, 3 of the bulls were still swimming and the other breeding herd was crossing the road, so there were ellies everywhere...we counted 78!! O/\ O/\

The other bull started heading down the road and we watched nervously as he passed within inches of this parked car, but thankfully he was calm!
