3 Nights at Manyane *

Post by JoeKing »

Eish Cell C signal is bad here.

I wont say our trip was spectacular, seeing as we had a few hiccups along the way, but we had a true "lifer".

Also had a chat with the anti poaching unit, after our spectacular sighting.

I hate typing cause i always have a awesome report in my head and then change it as i go through and then get bored with it, so lets try.

So lets start, after driving a rental car for 2 months i finally took it back wednesday morning as that was the day i was putting my car back together.

Great 21:00 Wednesday evening i start my engine and all is running 100%.

Thursday 13:00 we set off headed toward Pilanesberg, still in 2 minds about enter at Bakubung or Kwa-Maritane.

N4 all was looking good and eta was 15:00.

SNAP.............................car dead N4/R556 intersection, cam shaft snapped................ O/

2 hour wait for a flat bed tow truck wince the double cab is too heavy for a conventional tow truck.

Finally home transfer everything from load bin to boot of SO's Mazda etude. and we hit the road again at 18:30

So

in the distance i see something crosseing the road, and immidiately knew it was rhino, and with my luck in pilanesberg i didnt think it was anything other then another white rhino. get closer and the one rhino, had a companion, then i notice the bigger of the two's second horn and immidiatly knew this wasnt a white rhino.

Here ladies and gents are my first ever black rhinos.Image

i see SO shedding a tear, i ask her whats the matter, she tells me. How can something so beautiful be murdered.

So we were watching these two and are passed by a blue E-class merc with lesotho plates, they stop, look for 2minutes and leave again(2 minutes at a black rhino sighting), seems strange to me.

So no 15 minutes later i see a car speeding up behind us, I signal him to slow down.

He doesn't, here i notice its the same merc, and this time i see the occupants, 5 asian gents. Now we start doing the sums, a 20min loop in pilanesberg via Kubu, Tau and Tswene drive is impossible, unless you are speeding. i start and decided to get to bakgatla or find signal asap(seeing as these gents were also heading to bakgatla this was the better option)

they were no where insight and presume they must have taken my single finger sign language as a hind.

Arrive at bakgatla and ask the gate guards it the mentioned vehicle had passed.

Ummm, eish, ummmmmm. i think so. was the answer.

staright to reception and asked for CPU's number, the gent at reception even dialed them for me.

I gave a description of the events and they took my details.
