The recent strategic plan lists several "view decks" and overnight hides for the most popular dams in the Kruger Park.
This will be a major change, I think.
Visitors can leave the vehicles and climb a platform overlooking a dam, very much like a hide, but an open structure.
It might look like this one
These dams/waterholes might be upgraded with a deck or a hide (and most likely also parking spot and ablutions) and some new panoramic viewpoints
KNP Overnight Hide - Klopperfontein - Punda Maria
KNP New viewing platform - Dzundwini - Punda Maria
KNP Mpongolo overnight hide -Shingwedzi
KNP Overnight hide at Tsendze confluence - Mopani
KNP View deck at Tsendze camp site
KNP Makhadzi river mouth overnight hide - confluence
KNP Matambeni overnight hide - confluence
KNP Duke sleepover hide
KNP Gezantombi sleepover hide
KNP Gudzani sleepover hide
KNP Kumana dam view deck
KNP Mazithi dam view deck
KNP Gezantombi sleepover hide
KNP Nsemani lookout /sleepover hide
KNP Viewing decks at Steilberg road x 2 - Berg en Dal

I am in favour of anything that takes traffic off roads, but nothing that adds MORE tourists!

Rather unsightly! I also wonder where they will be placed. Will the current viewing/parking areas at these dams be lost?

Re: New Viewing Decks and Hides for Dams in Kruger National Park
If there is an exciting sighting on a dam, a deck might do the trick to avoid the rude behaviour with lots of vehicles trying to get a view
but depending on the design of the structures, it will spoil the scenery and the place might look more like a zoo, but all these dams are not natural anyway

If it were up to me I'd build steel carports at every waterhole!

I can just see people walking along the edge of dams trying to get closer to take pictures as they are allowed to get out to use these viewing decks
Next trip to the bush??
