It does change, you are paying extra for the booking irrespective of being a wildcard holder. So they make more money off people booking online and locals with wild cards lose out.

Me yes unfortunately I book and pay, if they have a gate quota of 500 and 500 peeps just pitch up without booking and they are wild cards holders, they get zip. If 500 peeps pre book they then get 500 x the pre booking amount even if they are wild card holders. So all larnies with holiday homes on outskirts prebook and locals get shafted.

Take note,.. there's a tendency too justify vehicles per/kilometer
The commercialization support vehicles snatching up vehicle space
per/kilometer, no revenue derived from this!!!

The "fatcat" grootbaas skriks for niks,...they will bleed Kruger too
the death!!!!

Agree, they should do away with prebooking, it is just to make money from peeps too lazy to get up early and queue. 1st come 1st served as far as I am concerned. Same amount of peeps and same amount of time will be taken to process them as they are day visitors.

We already notice the flaws that would justify each individuals
experience Ad hoc, wild venture!!!

Kruger fast becoming a very expensive guided zoo!!!!

Sanparks conveniently cutting away the personal experience
crap!!! Yes,....times and values of life do change!!!!!,...

and can be manipulated.

If one knows no different why should there be a query!!!~??

Visiting KNP during the festive season

Mariana Balt

Gate quotas for day visitors to the Kruger National Park will apply from December 7 until January 2.

For the Kruger National Park (KNP) the festive season starts on Thursday December 7 and lasts until Tuesday January 2.

Visitor management during this time is a vital part of ensuring the best possible experience for all, therefore SANParks reminds day visitors to the KNP that daily quotas will once again apply at the entrance gates.

Visitors are urged to make pre-bookings for their visits prior to their arrival and there are three time slots which they can choose from:

Time slot 1 – 05:30 to 07:30

Time slot 2 – 07:30 to 09:30

Time slot 3 – 09:30 onwards

“For busy periods such as the school holidays and festive season, we aim to better manage the volumes that we expect, as well as our visitors’ expectations. The three different time slots are aimed at improving the spread of vehicles and, as far as possible prevent unnecessary waiting periods at gates”, said the KNP’s general manager of communications and marketing, William Mabasa.

The day visitor quota for the park is a management tool to maintain the carrying capacity of the park and is always in place throughout the year though more emphasised during long weekends and holidays because of the volume of visitors during those times. Visitors will be able to book up to 80% of day visitor quotas per gate via SANParks reservations offices and online at http://www.sanparks.org.

Pre-booked day visitors will get preference over non-booked day visitors at the gate but must ensure that they arrive within the time slots, as per their reservation. Arriving outside the booked time slot, will be regarded as non-booked and therefore will not receive preference. These bookings can be changed as well through SANParks reservations offices if for some reason one decides to do so.

Day visitor pre- bookings are subject to a non-refundable booking fee of R40 per adult and R20 per child. Day visitors who have pre-booked will still be required to pay conservation fees or use a valid Wild Card to enter the park. The conservation fee for SA residents is R82 per adult and R41 per child between ages 2 – 11 and for international guests it is R328 per adult and R164 per child.

Mabasa reminded Visitors to read the permits received at the gates because all the rules and regulations of the park are clearly stipulated on these documents. “Please do not bring liquor with you because the alcohol ban on public areas in the park is a permanent rule which is enforced at all times. Visitors must please also refrain from committing other infringements such as littering and speeding in the park. These and other park rules are emphasisd to ensure visitors have a safe and enjoyable experience and hence must be adhered to at all times whilst in the park,” he advised.

Visitors can report any rules and regulations infringement witnessed to the emergency call centre numbers 013 735 4064, 013 735 0197 or 076 801 9679.

It is important to provide the following information:
•Vehicle type and colour
•Vehicle registration
•Date and time of Incident
•Yellow SATSA sticker number (for open safari vehicles)
•Details of incident
•Photographic evidence
•Location of incident

“We advise guests to exercise caution when driving around areas undergoing major construction such as Skukuza Camp so as to avoid unnecessary accidents”, concluded Mabasa.

Guests planning to use Wild Cards are requested to ensure membership is valid before arrival and this can best be done online at http://www.sanparks.org/wild

The number and profile of persons (adults and children) on the reservation and actual persons arriving should correspond.

All guests (drivers and passengers) will be required to identify themselves upon admission (by producing a South African driver’s license, identity document or passport); please ensure you are in possession of one of these documents.
