The Kruger National Park Ranger Sections

Post by Peter Betts »

There are 22 Sections in Kruger National Park . Each one is about 100 000 Hectres in size with Sections like Mopani which are much bigger. One of my favorite Sections is Woodlands up in the north known amongst the Section Rangers as the most beautiful in Kruger with its Pristine Savannah indispersed with huge Leadwood Trees (See Picture below). Woodands is predominately Wilderness area with very few Tourist Roads but does have the Western Loop of the Redrocks loop west of Shingwedzi as its eastern Boundary. Bateleur Camp lies within this Section as do other attractions like Silvervis and Rooibosrant dams. Time spent in this beautiful area is very restful and beautiful I love Woodlands

The section boundaries change bit every few years...this seems quite up to date?

(Not the ranger names)

In the old days Shangoni Section , Most of Maghlangeni and all of Woodlands and south Vlakteplaas were one Section !!! ..The late Mike English told me recently as a retired Ranger having a weeks break at Sirheni from his house in Nelspruit. That was his first posting ..HUGE area
