Excellent shots of those mongooses indeed, Pumbaa :-0 ^Q^

Same goes for your bird photos again - with the roller being the cherry on the cake

And, ag, isn't that bushbuck baby a cutie!!! 0/0 Also, the existence of a camp buck is secure with its birth lol

The hide is always worth visiting and you had the luck to find a Malachite Kingfisher, with its striking colours, a Gree-backed Heron and an Open-billed Stork and more ^Q^ ^Q^

Such a cute newly born bushbuck O/\
It was one of the best banded mongoose sighting ever O/\

Sunday, 10. February 2019 – Crocodile Bridge

Roads we strolled along: H4-2 – S28 – S137 – S130 - H4-2 – H10 – S29 – S122 – S129 – S128 – H10 – H4-2 – S28 – H4-2

This morning we had already an extreme nice encounter – Timon spread our bread slices after he toasted same on the cutting board to cool down when suddenly one of the cutest thing ever occurred on the scene – a very cheeky and nearly tame bushbaby jumped from the roof onto Timon’s shoulder and from there right onto the table and grabbed one of the bread slices with which same in hand fled onto one of the tree trunks holding the thatched roof. Needless to say that the little chap lost most of the bread slice as same was by far larger than the bushbaby itself but for sure same had still enough bread left and started to feed on the bread whilst Timon ran into the bungalow to grab a camera and luckily he still could capture same whilst same had its breakfast.

Image

Meanwhile I now prepared the bread as take away for our lunch box and packed same away but our little friend obviously wanted more and repeated the whole procedure – Timon’s shoulder, then the table but as now the bread was gone same jumped straight onto the tree trunk and now Timon could capture same again but same finally disappeared in the darkness.

Image

We straight melted away by the cuteness of this little chap and hoped same might return also the next morning but unfortunately same stayed away obviously it was the bread as same was from Milly’s and the next days we had to be satisfied with despicable toast from the camp shop……

With that start into the day we started our drive and stopped at Gesanftombi to photograph the fish eagle overlooking his kingdom with no water left.

Image

The lions were nowhere to be seen but we noticed a hyena on the road and so we turned into the S28 where we met another one

Image

who came running into our direction obviously in joining the other one.

Image

In the background you can still see the wasteland in that area but as already said after a couple of kilometres on that road the vegetation changed once again into the green jungle we saw this year nearly in the whole park.

Image

The breath taking sunrise had to be captured

Image

and then we met the next cute thing – a baby elephant boy plus his mom

Image

who stopped right in the road for a milk bar visit – Baby boy was hungry

Image

and whilst mom was hurrying forward the little boy still had not enough and they had to stop once again she nursed him whilst she was feeding on the bushes

Image

and finally they walked right in front of us together with the rest of the herd but gladly soon left the road so that we could pass

but we had to be still careful as we noticed more herd members on the other side of the road who wanted to keep up with the leader.

Image

We came across another European roller

Image

who occurred really plentiful everywhere in the park on the bushes along the sand roads

Image

then we stopped for giraffes who positioned themselves really picturesquely in the veld

Image

and it is showing why we do love to travel along the S28

Image

on the other side of the road we found more giraffes but to photograph into that direction produced shots in a strange light.

Image

As always masses of zebras where around as well

Image

and also the many banana birds.

Image

Whenever travelling along that road we drive the small detour to the former Nhlanganzwani dam as the view into the really huge valley with still some dead trees here and there is always so peace- and beautiful and on top sometimes there are interesting sightings around this time – a black-backed jackal who unfortunately far too soon disappeared in the high grass.

Image

Then it got quiet again and we only stopped now on the S137 for a couple of kudus

Image

who were feeding on the many green bushes.

Image

to be continued.....

Scary when the bushbaby gets used to people and even jump onto your shoulder. They are usually very shy.

Next trip to the bush??
