Lisbeth wrote: Fri Feb 15, 2019 6:58 pm I can understand that Anna was fascinated by the weavers, so was I the first time I saw them and little by little I also discovered that there were different kinds of weaver's nests.....and different weavers \O Very O:V

It's the first time that I have seen an immature oxpecker

The plates were like that in 2012 and I was horrified lol Like jeans with pre-made holes 0*\ 0-

I love white storks \O Today I saw hundreds and hundreds of them at the Tihongynoeni waterhole on the Capricorn loop. It was fantastic O/\ O/\

Going back to the weavers, at Lower Sabie we watched a Southern Masked-weaver build a beautiful nest, the wife came to inspect and then he built another one. Wife came back to inspect both and then he tore one down! Anna was amazed at their ability to build such a work of art, and at the fact that the wife could be so fussy! lol

Lower Sabie - Satara

Kumana Dam was nice and full.

Image

We had to show Anna the southern-most baobab. I can't remember when I last saw it with its summer foliage! :-0

Image

More baboons for Anna to ooh and ahh over! lol

Image

We got to Satara quite early and were allowed to check-in, but were told to come back later for the key. They told us the unit number so we decided to go and have a look at it. When we got to the unit, the cleaning lady was just finishing off and told us we could move in! O:V

I'd booked a 6-sleeper guest cottage, which was the same price as two tents at Lower Sabie...there was no comparison!! O** There was a tree blocking our view a bit, but that's just being picky! lol

Image

It had a lovely big lounge and dining room, large kitchen, two huge bedrooms and two bathrooms - one with a shower and one with a bath. There was also a big verandah. ^Q^

Everyone was very impressed with the accommodation. I was just glad that we were ending our trip here...it would have been a bit of let down to go from this accommodation to the tents at Lower Sabie. O**

Space, comfortable armchairs and a table with chairs, e VIVA \O But the same stupid wash basin as in all the places 0*\

The southernmost Baobab is such a beautiful tree; it looks almost the same as in 2008, but not quite ;-)

These 6 bed cottages at Satara are never available. You were lucky to get one. I think the 6 bed cottages at Letaba have much better furniture O**

Next trip to the bush??

Let me think......................

We actually never sat inside so we didn't try that furniture! lol But it would have been nice to have that option in Lower Sabie with the rain!

Lower Sabie has limited accommodation for families 4+. It’s actually sad.
