Aat & Elly -07- A Special Cheetah Sighting (1 & 2)

Post by aat »

Hi all... time for a new story... If you like Cheetah ... I guess you like this story part 1 and 2...

A Special Cheetah sighting (1)

Part 1:

We were staying some days in the south and one morning we were driving the S28.
Close to the turn-off to the hide we saw something moving through the high grass. Looked like cheetah but not sure. So stop… watch… search and….SEE, yes a Cheetah
The cheetah was moving and it looked like this cat was searching for breakfast.
We took this little road on the RH side and there she was.

-

We followed her slowly but suddenly we thought we saw something else in the high grass, but not sure what it was. Then after a few minutes this “something” was a cub. We only could this cub after it jumped on a fallen tree.

-
Image
-

We had to wait a few minutes again, we just could see the mother, before we got another nice view and this time mom and cub together.

-
Image
-

She was moving towards the road and we were hoping she would cross it with her little child.
It did not take long and there she was

-
Image
-

Mom went to the other side and we were waiting for her cub… then we got a real big surprise !!
Not one cub, not 2, not 3 but 4 of them…. Big smiles on our faces. Elly was just saying ohhhhh….ahhhhhh… her favorite cats just in front of her.

-

And

-

-

In the mean time more cars arrived but we were in pole position … and enjoying this little ones just in front of us. We were hoping they would stay there for a while because the grass was really high near the road.
They listened to us and were starting a nice show.

-

And

-
Image
-

One of them was copying mom’s behavior , practicing some lessons….

-
Image
-

Still all together , what a luck….
Last picture of part 1 (I am still not allowed to post more pics in one post…smile)

-

End of part 1 …. Check part 2 for a very nice show they presented us a few minutes later…

A Special Cheetah sighting (2)

Part 2:

The cubs were walking a bit on this road and after some minutes they found an old tree just near the road.
So two of them decided to get on this tree (like mom does …)

-
Image
-

Well, what normally happens with kids… the other ones also would like to be on this tree, so number 3 showed up

-
Image
-

And after number 3 …yes, you are right….number 4 was following

-
Image
-

Next picture with all 4 of them , my own favorite picture.

-
Image
-

They just gave me this one moment to capture them like that…just a few seconds later two of them jumped off the tree

-
Image
-

The other two were looking at us , I remember I said thanks !! lovely look

-
Image
-

What a beauties. The mother was not far away, she was laying down at short distance, but we only could see her tail / head in the grass. No problem , the cubs were really showing off themselves

-
Image
-

It’s great to see how they behave…and sometimes copying the moves of their mother

-
Image
-

Like on the next few pictures… jumping on a small “hill” as look-out… mommy does it…so we do it

-
Image
-

And repeating story…if one does it another ones follows

-
Image
-

Last few pictures of this really great sighting

-
Image
-

And finally

-

-

Shortly after this they all went to their mother…

End of part 2 ….
Hope you liked it and till next story

Gorgeous sighting and brilliant pics. What a clever mum having raised four cubs. Hopefully they will all become grown ups O/\ O/\
