It's nature's way, Dzombs!

The Nwaswitsontso River runs virtually entirely within the Park, so does not get interfered with by humans. Interesting then, compared with others. Anyway, it is the lack of grass that is obviously the problem! I think they try and eat other plants, but are simply not capable of browsing, for example. here is a video of a dying one chewing a bush in March...

I saw a zebra chewing on low growing shrubs.
Also, along the H6 it was pretty bleak. Most of the shrubs had been completely stripped to about head height. I saw a Kudu bull using his horns to try and break some of the longer branches so that it could get to the leaves.

Will post photos when I get a chance.

It really was a struggle for him
He used a horn to hook over a branch and bend it lower. But every time he let it go to move closer to the leaves and have a nibble, branch went back upright again.
Took him a lot of effort to get a meagre few leaves in the end.

Couldn't help thinking that some hands would have been useful

Love to watch the animals behaving differently to the norm. Don't think I have seen a kudu - or any other antelope with similar horns - doing something like that.
