Aat&Elly:11 E-Land

*** Travel Tales ***
Trip to Kruger NP 2016 (October – November) New series of Stories

Thanks for all the nice comments with the Mega pride story !! It’s time again for another story

11 – E-Land

The northern regions do have some Antelopes you (almost) don’t see in the central or southern regions. We call it the triple A – Antelopes: Eland, Roan and Sable
Sable is the exception I think , seen them in other regions as well
This story is about the Elan, we were lucky to see them 3 times

First time was close to Tihongonyeni waterhole (or what is left) where we saw 3 Eland

Just behind this one two other were playing. Dry, dry dry it was, dust and the whole area was like a desert. I guess it looks very different today.

Well, playing ? or was it exercising

The Zebra , always around were watching the “game”

Watching these beautiful antelopes for a while before we moved on.

Same day as we saw the mega pride (lion) near Boyela waterhole (between Shingwedzi and Punda Maria) we saw this big bull waiting for an opportunity to get drink at the waterhole. This waterhole was fully occupied by Elephant bulls so no chance… waiting and waiting

Still no place for me ? Pffff….

2 weeks later and making another drive in the Mopani area we found some more Eland
Relative close to us the big boy

-

-

Suddenly he started to run, nothing wrong with that. An Eland bull in action , great for a picture

So far we did not see them , but the bull was running to his family and very good to see a few more Eland around. Two youngsters completed the family of 5 in total

Hope you liked it … always a pleasure to share the special moments

Time and again I'm astonished by your luck with sightings of the rarer antelopes (and animals generally ;-) )

What a splendid sighting :-0
