WoW Richprins,

what an amazing sighting - Would love to have seen it with my own eyes :-0 :-0 :-0

I remember when I first saw my very first sable I actually could only see the bum and thought "ahh another wildebeest" but the tail looked strange.....

Nice, Pumbaa! lol

Will get your software, BC! X#X

An unusual gathering pic:

Image

A bit of a rest! We are very agile, you know! ^0^

Image

There was always something new arriving....very unusual this one, from the corner of my eye...

Image

Bushbuck are not seen drinking at waterholes that often...so dry there!

Image

Bushbuck with yellow oxpecker...rare! :-0

Image

Then it was gone...and the next actors appeared! 0:

Image

(Will put up a video or two! ..0.. )

They left and this arrived to drink at the weird outflow... :-?

Image

I must mention this oddity...time and time again as I went up and down the steps of the hide this grass would snatch at my leg, giving me a fright each time! 0*\

0*\

I kept bending it back, but it would come out again to torment me! Africa's a tough country! =O:

That first pic is very clever, as it makes an ascending line!

Thanks! :-0

We decided we had better go on a drive in the afternoon...rules are rules? -O-

And for some reason there were no kudu at the waterhole, so we went and found one and came back! lol

Image

We also found the returning youngsters on the road, as said they had gone to Letaba and back for the day... :O^

Safely back at base!

Image

It was getting dark fast, and here I must stand up for my little Nipponese Camera....it is astounding at using available light...the camera mafia must take note! ^0^

The resident sable bull came down to drink...it was getting quite surreal, with a grandstand of tourists now filling up the hide and row of chairs to watch the final show for the day! :-0

An ellie herd also arrived, with some bully young teenagers again. They tried to harrass the sable, like they did to other drinkers, three of them charging him while he was in the mud! He was having none of it, and swung his head viciously at them! One could clearly hear the "swish" of the horns from the fence, something I shall never forget!

(Sable are known for being very aggressive, documented to kill a lion once in Kruger)

They stopped abruptly and backed off and ran away! =O: =O: =O:

\O

The whole herd started leaving, and the sable also went a ways off. There was a strange feeling in the air, and funny behaviour by the sable, but we had seen him before and we put it down to being mentally retarded... O**

Image

The tourists also started leaving...Dwarf and I didn't have seats so were standing behind the hide.

Image

Another memorable moment...tea was flowing, sun was setting...health was good. Sometimes it is nice to be in Africa!

We couldn't go anywhere, so just walked a bit closer and stood there.

Image

After that it got interesting, will leave it up to one of the forums' biggest BS artists to tell the next installment! lol
