Visiting the Kruger National Park in South Africa is something on almost every wildlife lovers bucket list. It’s the oldest national park in South Africa and the largest protected wilderness area in Africa. Kruger National Park is renowned for its outstanding biodiversity, incredible Big 5 wildlife sightings and is rich in cultural and archeologically history.

Kruger National Park lies in the north-eastern corner of South Africa, spread across the upper Mpumalanga and Limpopo Province. It’s core to the Kruger2Canyon Biosphere, which is a UNESCO International Man and Biosphere Reserve. Enjoy early and morning Big 5 safari drives, guided wilderness trails, 4×4 bushveld excursions, photographic safaris and spectacular bird watching on a trip to the Kruger Park.

Kruger Park rest camps

Berg & Dal Rest Camp is a new generation camp situated in the southern region of the Kruger National Park. The camp is surrounded by breathtaking hillsides offering guests a multitude of accommodation choices to suit every need. Options include tree shaded camp/tent sites, one-bedroom bungalows, family cottages and two guesthouses. The camp has a modern yet rustic appeal and offers guests a communal kitchen and
picnic area.

Crocodile Bridge Rest Camp sits on the northern banks of the Crocodile River in a game-rich section of the Kruger Park. The camp offers a choice of accommodation options, ranging from an electrified camp/caravan site, 2 to 6-sleeper family bungalows and two guest houses.

Letaba Rest Camp sits perched above the beautiful Letaba River in one of the most scenic areas of the Kruger National Park. The camp offers perfect wildlife viewing opportunities and has gained a reputation as prime spot to view elephants. Accommodation options in the camp include safari tents, a caravan/camping site, bungalows and guest houses.

Lower Sabie Rest Camp is situated on the banks of the Sabie River, close to border of Mozambique on the eastern boundary of the Kruger Park. Accommodation at Mopani Rest Camp ranges from bungalows, guest cottages and guest houses and there is a licensed restaurant and cafeteria in the camp.

Olifants Rest Camp is situated at the top of a hill and offers guests some of the most stunning views in the Kruger National Park. The brilliant overlook offers a panoramic view of the river below and Lebombo Mountain in the distance. The camp has a restaurant, cafeteria, swimming pool and picnic area and a wide choice of accommodation, ranging from a well-maintained caravan/camping site, bungalows and luxury guest houses.

Orpen Rest Camp ­is situated on the western border of the Kruger National Park and is filled with stunning indigenous flowers, large trees and a wide variety of accommodation styles. Orpen mightbe smaller than the other camps but it is certainly very popular among guests. Large camp or caravan sites, cosy huts, spacious family units and luxury guesthouses with breathtaking views are on offer and the camp boasts a restaurant, swimming pool, shop and picnic area.

Pretoriuskop Rest Camp is the oldest rest camp in the Kruger National Park and has been a crowd favourite for years as the national park has grown and developed over the years. Guests have the choice of a wide range of accommodation, including a popular caravan/camping site, historic Kruger bungalows, family chalets and luxury guest houses. Popular features include a stunning natural rock pool, night drives in an open safari vehicle and a wilderness trail for guided bushwalks.

Punda Maria Rest Camp is a botanist’s paradise. Situated in a verdant region of the Kruger National Park, the camp is popular with both nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts. A well-maintained camp site, Kruger bungalows, spacious family chalets and luxury guest houses with breathtaking views are the options available for overnight guests. A picnic area, swimming pool, restaurant and shop are available at Punda Maria Rest Camp.

Satara Rest Camp is located in the game-rich central region and offers guests some of the best game viewing in the Kruger National Park. The area is well-known for its strong population of lions and abundance of plains game. The camp has a communal-style layout and offers overnight guests a variety of accommodation, including a well-maintained camp site, bungalows, guest cottages and luxury guest houses. A restaurant and grocery shop are available onsite.

Shingwedzi Rest Camp promises guests outstanding animal sightings and accommodation in a spectacular bushveld setting. The camp is a popular choice with long-term guests to the Kruger National Park offering a choice of camp sites, bungalows, family units and luxury guest houses. There is a restaurant, cafeteria, swimming pool, shop, laundromat and filling station onsite.

Skukuza Rest Camp is situatedon the banks of the famous Sabie riverand is the largest rest camp in the Kruger National Park. Beautiful views of the river and incredible wildlife sightings in a game-rich area make it a popular choice. Hippos and crocodiles can be viewed from the walkway, with monkeys and birdlife bringing life to the surroundings. Accommodation available includes campsites, bungalows, guest cottages and guest houses.

Kruger National satellite camps

Balule Camp offers guests an authentic African camping experience with its rustic bushveld feel. Nestled under shadowy trees, the camp is enclosed by little more than a fence, offering guests an old-time camping feel in peace and quiet. Accommodation available includes campsites, Kruger bungalows, family chalets and guest houses. This camp is popular for visitors who prefer a more authentic safari experience.

Malelane Camp is situated where Malelane’s picturesque cane fields meet the rolling savannah of the Kruger National Park. Small in size and quiet in surroundings, Malelane Camp is a truly unique place to stay. Accommodation ranges from a well-maintained camp site, bungalows, family chalets and guest houses. Day and night game drives in an open safari vehicle with a professional SANParks ranger are available on request.

Maroela Camp is situated on the banks of the Timbavati River and is surrounded by untouched savanna grasslands. The camp is rustic in every way and perfect for those wanting a more authentic safari experience away from the hustle and bustle of the bigger camps. Accommodation includes a campsite, bungalows, family chalets and guest houses.

Tamboti Camp is situated on the banks of the beautiful Timbavati River. The tented satellite camp lies nestled in a grove of Tamboti trees which creates a true bird watchers paradise. Known for its incredible wildlife sightings and tranquil surrounds, Tamboti Camp is a firm favourite with Kruger visitors. Accommodation in this camp includes a campsite, bungalows, family chalets and guest houses.

Kruger Park bushveld camps

Bateleur Bushveld Camp is named after the majestic Bateleur eagle that can be seen in the African skies. Situated in the northern parts of the Park, the camp offers a private, comfortable stay for visitors. Sirheni Bushveld Camp is situated in the open northern plains of the Kruger National Park. The Mphongolo River lazily flows nearby and is frequently visited by the Big 5 as well as antelope and predators. Kruger Park overnight hides

Sable Sleepover Hide is the ultimate bird viewing point by day and an authentic safari experience by night. Complimentary wakeup calls are frequently delivered by lions and other wildlife. Visitors sleepover night in the hide, which is equipped with basic provisions, including a boma with braai facilities. The Sable Sleepover Hide is perfect for the more adventurous as it is an open setting with wildlife walking freely by.

Shipandani Sleepover Hide is a unique spot situated deep in the heart of the Park. It’s the perfect setting game viewing and offers a unique opportunity to sleep out in the bushveld at night. Shipandani offers guests sleeping units set up in wooden structures and a living space that includes a boma with a braai facility.

Kruger Park bush lodges

Boulders Bush Lodge is stunning and exclusive. Built against a rocky outcrop, this camp offers bushveld chalets that are raised on stilts, creating the perfect vantage points for game viewing. Boulders is unfenced but set out of the reach of wildlife. Units are linked by a number of wooden walkways whilst still maintaining privacy and tranquillity. The accommodation offers a full kitchen and a comfortable dining area.

Pafuri Border Camp is a beautiful self-catering bird lovers paradise set close to the Limpopo and Levubu Rivers. It offers guests a number of facilities, including a swimming pool and museum. Accommodation options include the beautiful 8 sleeper Mockford House, the smaller 2-bedroom Mockford Cottage and the 6-sleeper English house with kitchenette. All options have en-suite bathrooms.

Roodewal Bush Lodge is located close to the beautiful Letaba River in the middle of elephant and buffalo territory. The bush camp is best known for being a prime wildlife viewing spot which is rich in pre-historic history. The surrounding area is dominated by Jackalberry and Natal Mahogany Trees, creating a stunning picturesque setting. Accommodation includes carefully positioned bungalows and guest cottages.

Tented camping sites

Tsendze Rustic Camp offers guests a completely rustic, true African camping experience in the cool shade of mopane, leadwood and apple leaf trees. The Tsendze and Nshwau Rivers flow close by, acting as a lure to multiple species of wildlife and offering guests an excellent viewing experience. The Tsendze Rustic Camp is listed amongst the best places to stay in the Kruger National Park.

Now who paid for this piece of PR guff, nothing more that can be found on Sanparks website. So unnecessary in my view.

Have been on TA forum South Africa and sadly the vast majority of overseas posters (target market?) recommend private lodges. Mainly less people, better accommodation, not congested.

@ somabhula - Here you have them all in a row. For first time visitors it might be useful.

Do you still read Tripadvisor? Years ago it was not bad, but these days it is not trustworthy, because many more are travelling and taste is very debatable O**
