Room With A View - Wildlife Seen From Your Camp

Post by ExFmem »

I'm sure everyone has favorite sightings from their drives through Kruger, but what about those seen while enjoying leisure time in camp? 0()

Lower Sabie - Perimeter Tent Sightings

In addition to the previously posted croc and hippo saga seen from our perimeter tent at Lower Sabie, we had front row seats to this interaction while enjoying our morning coffee:

A fish eagle has a prized catch of a rather large fish of some type

When a moocher appears on the scene… 0=

The fish eagle is having none of it (0!)

The stork tries an end-around approach 0-

Oh NO! Another interloper??? -O-

Double trouble! @#$ @#$

The fish eagle flew to a nearby secluded tree and enjoyed his breakfast without further provocation.

Great pics ExFmem ^Q^ ^Q^ ^Q^ and a cool topic \O

Seen all the usual stuff from camp but my best sighting from camp has been at Talamati in October 2015 when a wild dog took out an impala next to the fence, then a hyena chased the wild dog off, then a leopard chased the hyena off, then the hyena returned 10 minutes later with backup and chased the leopard off, then the wild dog returned to steal the fetus (the impala was pregnant) while the hyenas chased the leopard around, then the hyenas spotted the wild dog and chased it while the leopard returned to scoop a section and bailed up a tree next to the fence with it. Then a SSJ arrived to steal the scraps.

Also during the same trip we watched a leopard take out an impala in front of Keartland guest house at Lower Sabie in the middle of the day.

All in my Oct 2015 TT with pics ;-)

The year before or the same year :-? we watched 2 male lion attack a hippo in front of unit 21 at Lower Sabie at around 6:15am, just before leaving on the morning drive.

Around 2/3 years ago we watched ellies mating in the riverbed in front of unit 7 at Biyamiti. Also in a TT somewhere with pics. :-?

Seen plenty from camp, so can go on, but only when I get a gap at work 0: --00--

Never seen anything as exciting as Bushcraft has, but we've still had some nice sightings from camp.

Injured lioness at the Talamati waterhole. Excuse the pic but it was almost dark and it was taken with a muk 'n druk. ;-)

Lions had made a buffalo kill right next to the webcam at Satara. By the time we got there the lions had gone and the vultures had moved in. Again, taken with a muk 'n druk.
