VAT is now 15% Lisbeth (was 14%) and the same on all categories except for VAT exempt items such as bread and other basic necessities.

Thank you \O

Between taxes and VAT, which is also a tax, SA is really making you work for the country, not much left for yourself O**

Ja, okie. It is a bit unclear how one can pay fully for a service and then pay more. Wonder if that is in the fine print?

We are one of the most taxed countries in the world, Lis. With one of the smallest proportions of people who actually pay tax... O**

Ja I agree \O Actually , it is not quite correct to say ALL accommodation is VAT free . In fact , COMMERCIAL accommodation , such as hotel accommodation is indeed VATable ( SANParks is therefore also VAT able ) , but also , Commercial accommodation is only 100% VATabale , provided that the period of accommodation is LESS than 28 days . If the period of accommodation is longer than 28 days , then VAT can only be charged at 60 % on the total charge for accommodation .
In other words , if you make a res. at Sanparks for say 30 days , then they may only charge you 60 % of the normal VAT .
So , remember , if say , you intend to visit Kruger for 28 days you will pay VAT on accommodation at 15 % , but , you may as well book for 29 days , in which event , VAT may be charged at 60 % , which mean it will actually cost you less ;-)

Total BS. Using a loophole that they send a "booking confirmation" and not a invoice. All other companies I have preorders with are honoring agreed amounts entered before 1 April. Only one using sneaky back door tactics is Sanparks...
