As we approach 750 members, and many more on facebook, one should maybe take stock again of where we stand. I am personally very satisfied with our progress, and repeat that we are a recognised pressure group and stakeholder regarding conservation affairs in SA at top level.

We have continued to be actively involved in stakeholder meetings regarding concerning developments in SANParks, although that public consultation is limited..far too little opportunity given for face to face input from national stakeholders by the custodians of our future, which we are working on and have demanded!

A number of members register as Affected Parties in these regards, and we are a bit different too in that we are an international group, not just local.

Make no mistake, SANParks know we are out there. At a recent meeting a very senior official even said that he knew where one of our members resided.

We continue to have regular media interaction, both regarding "business" matters and more informal exposure such as having members' wildlife pictures published in newspapers and magazines.

A lot goes on behind the scenes, as said before, with whistleblowers and media having increasingly contacted us. We also continue to have close contact with a number of concerned NGO's, and others. It is a very strong network now, with information moving rapidly even to the echelons of government.

Also, at ground level, we thankfully have good interaction with SP staff regarding things like maintenance issues and recognition for good management.

While not all members post actively, they can be called upon at any time to participate when required in the real world, which is what this family is all about. \O

Thank you to all Wildies, and let's keep up the good work. It is very far from over!
