I think the proportions are a bit off. If you don't look at it carefully,
it seems as almost half of the booked units were left empty...

But still, it's quite a nuissance if people book and don't make use of
their bookings while others are desperate to get in.

BTW, I was still in KTP when bookings for October 2013 opened.
I couldn't get a single night at Uri, despite the fact that Loretta at
reception in Mata-Mata did my bookings at 7.40 am...

Ridiculous!

Excellent point, Sprocks, but that can't account for all!

The rest must surely be preferential bookings!

Not on the market to buy or rent is indeed sold. \O \O

Ought to be so, Mel. But why are so many not occupied, if people have paid for them? -O- "On the route to Moz" may explain it to a certain degree, but that many? :-?

We have experienced this phenomenon in KTP as well. There are many reasons,
it seems, why units were not occupied. In the wilderness camps it's mostly due
to a car break down en route to KTP, so that people don't manage to get in the
first night they booked or something like that.

I would think units booked would be paid for. According to figures on the annual Statements,
the Accomodation profit percentage has increased.
What I don't understand, is from a business view,
that even though the units are paid for but not occupied,
they loose out on conservation fee, entrance fee, the restaurants loose out, and the percentage profit on fuel is lost. 0*\

Amoli, they only lose if the guests don't enter the park. On the Moz route they do, it is cheaper to book accommodation and transit straight through than to have to go around the park. KTP got it right by enforcing a two night booking, this proved too costly and the short cut was halted. \O
