Stationary GSM system
There are various fields of application for remote meter
reading via GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication).

One of these is remote reading of measurement points
installed in systems where effective reading via walkby
radio or M-bus is not an option.
Bulk consumer measuring points can also be read
easily and at short intervals via GSM. Other fields of
application are leak detection and pressure monitoring.
An alarm message is sent via SMS in the event
of an unusual operational status.
Long travel times and complicated access, for example
to meters integrated into shafts, often result in
huge effort being expended. This increases the more
often the meter has to be read.
Remote meter reading and measurement point monitoring via
GSM and internet
With ZENNER’s GSM solution these are problems of
the past, and an investment in our GSM system will
pay for itself in a very short time.
Up to two meters or pulse outputs are connected to
our GSM data logger GSM multilog for remote reading
via GSM. The battery-operated data logger has an integrated
GSM modem and stores the meter readings
at regular, freely configurable intervals. The data are
transmitted to a server via SMS. The highest level of
data security is guaranteed. Consumption data can
be retrieved and evaluated via a protected internet portal.

The data is therefore available for access at any time.
The same portal can be used to individually configure
the GSM multilog and for example set up alarm messages.

An interesting response from lower Sabie! \O

Happy new year to you.

We’re experiencing bat predicament in the camp at the moment. We’re trying all the possible means that can help to prevent bats to gain access in to the units, we tried the ultra-sonic devices but they proved to be ineffective. We installed bats houses in 2020 around but the bats moves in very slowly, we’re currently fitting the units with chicken mesh wires for bats proofing and we’re monitoring the progress. We’re open for advises that can assist us to deal with this predicament. We profusely apologize for the inconvinience caused.

Sanparks has made their own guidelines, which sound rather effective, then why don't they just follow them instead of asking for help -O-

⚠️Social Media Alert⚠️
Dear valued guests
KNP Management would like to inform visitors to the park that, it is aware of the infestation of bats in some units at our rest camps. As a protected area, KNP is managing biodiversity as naturally as possible and as such has to find a delicate balance between wildlife and the many visitors that enjoy nature.
The infestation is seasonal between April and October and our scientists and conservation management teams are rolling out a project to minimise the bat infestation in a safe and humane manner. The proposed solutions include sealing unit roofs so that the mammals can't gain access to the buildings and other methods to discourage the animals from roosting on the verandas.
The project will commence on 08 April 2024 at Lower Sabie and move to other camps. Management apologises for any inconvenience and wishes all visitors a good safari experience over the Easter Holidays.

Social Media Alert
REMOVAL OF BAT HOUSES IN THE KNP
Kruger National Park Management in consultation with internal divisions such as tourism operations, scientific and conservation services, has embarked on the removal of all bat houses in the park, starting with Lower Sabie Rest Camp which is mainly affected by bat influx. The operation aims to minimise the number of bats that roost inside the rest camps.
The bat houses provided alternative accommodation for bats and in most cases the bats move onto nearby structures when the bat houses fill up. This is a long-term process as it can be affected by weather conditions such as rainfall events.
Over the years, Lower Sabie has experienced an unpleasant odor of bat droppings and bat noise in some of its buildings including guest accommodation, which led to visitor complaints. Management hopes to delicately manage the situation to the satisfaction of both nature and the guests.
It is a complicated matter to keep bats out of buildings as they originate from the surrounding natural bush, however various other mechanisms will be explored after the bat houses removal to deter bats from taking up residence in the tourist accommodation units. Efforts will be made to carry out the operations without inconveniencing visitors to the park; and we therefore request cooperation whenever guests witness the undertaking of the operation.
