Alldays Driven Hunt

***BREAKING NEWS***
STOP ALLDAYS MASSACRE
On Monday the 7th September hundreds of wild animals will be killed in a mass slaughter as part of a driven hunt in Limpopo on 3 game farms just outside of Alldays.
A variety of wild animals including antelope, baboon and warthog will be chased down a specially cleared 2km stretch of land into a wall of gunfire.
Foreign hunters, in South Africa for a week of entertainment will be standing on purpose built platforms along the slaughter strip ready to take pot shots at these terrified animals. The animals have no chance of evading the onslaught and the hunters have no way of ensuring a clean shot or a humane death.
The animal ‘ targets’ are moving and there is no way to control the species or age of the animals that will be killed. The animals will likely not be used for meat or trophies as their bodies will be riddled with lead.
The hunt will last for 1 week and hundreds of animals will be injured and or killed daily. Hundreds of animals will suffer, just to entertain a few individuals.
Driven Hunting is not illegal, but it most certainly is unethical and inhumane as a clean shot and certain death cannot be guaranteed.
Not killing the animal outright or with a second shot immediately, is certainly a contravention of the Animals Protection Act.
Please help up to stop this by appealing to the Limpopo Department of Environmental Affairs to stop this hunt immediately. Please email your concerns politely to MakhubeleSH@Ledet.gov.za or call their office on 015 2907070.
Please feel free to visit their offices at 19 Bicard Street, Polokwane or even visit the farm at Braam Farm, 20km on left on gravel Breslau Road D2642 in Alldays.
Please like this post to indicate you have contacted them and please share this post widely, the more voices we have the more power we have.
Imagine being able to say we stopped the slaughter!!!!!!!!

It’s called a Driven Hunt. Wild animals - including buck, baboon and warthog - will be driven out of the bush by workers banging metal drums. Then it’s a free-for-all as hunters atop raised platforms take aim at hundreds of animals herded to the slaughter. Foreign hunters are lining up to take part in the controversial hunt in Limpopo on Monday and the community who own the land support the hunt for the revenue it will generate.
But, should this practice be outlawed? Have your say by clicking below www.carteblanche.co.za

Loraine Liebenberg:
Just listened to the Carte Blanche program about the Alldays driven hunt.
This a conservancy owned by a local community - awarded in a land claim settlement. The photo below is of the spokesperson of this community. These people were helped to stock this place with various game, most probably using taxpayer's money?
This Simon Mafela was extremely rude to the CB reporter, asking her if she was a "black" white, or a "white" black, and refusing to answer questions.
Numerous platforms have been built over a kilometers long stretch. Apparently when platforms like this are built, they are supposed to be at least 100 meters apart from each other. These are built much closer to each other.
The hunting party consists of 13 Belgium and Dutch hunters. There is a luxury hunting lodge built on the property, where they will be accommodated. The plan is that there will be a game drive EACH day over a 6-8 day period and each hunter will be allowed to shoot 2-3 animals per day.
Mr Solly Kgopong of the Limpopo Environmental Affairs department was also contacted. He said that they are investigating.
At the moment, the NSPCA and CB says that only the Limpopo EAD and the public can stop this. They are asking that the public bombard the LEAD with emails and phone calls, and if possible, protest outside their offices.

Hundreds of animals to be killed in Limpopo driven hunt

By Mara Ispas
7 September 2015

A team from the National Council of SPCA’s was on its way to Limpopo to take action to stop an alleged driven hunt, the organisation said on Monday.

Hundrends of wild animals will be killed on Monday, as part of an alleged driven hunt on three game farms just ouside of Alldays in Limpopo.

In a statement at the weekend the NSPCA said a variety of wild animals, including antelope, baboons and warthogs will be chased down a specially cleared 2km stretch of land and into “a wall of gunfire.”

It said foreign hunters will travel to South Africa for a “week of entertainment”, where they will position themselves on wooden platforms along the strip and shoot the animals as they run past.

“The animals have no chance of evading the onslaught and the hunters have no way of ensuring a clean shot or a humane death,” said the NSPCA.

“The animal ‘targets’ are moving and there is no way to control the species or age of the animals that will be killed. The animals will likely not be used for meat or trophies as their bodies will be riddled with lead.”

According to the organisation the hunt will last for the week. It is expected that hundreds of animals will be killed or injured each day of the hunt.

While driven Hunting is not illegal in South Africa, the NSPCA said it is unethical and inhumane as a clean shot and certain death cannot be guaranteed.

“Not killing the animal outright or with a second shot immediately, is certainly a contravention of the Animals Protection Act,” it said.

The NPSCA has called on those against the driven hunt to gather outside the farms and send objections to the Limpopo Department of Environmental Affairs.
