Hmmmmm. I was trying to start some form of debate --00-- with my comments above but seems this thread has died. :-(

Dear Lisbeth

As a registered Interested and Affected Party in the environmental assessment process for the application for environmental authorisation for the proposed Kruger Selati upmarket tourism development in Skukuza in the Kruger National Park, you are invited to critically review and comment on the Draft Basic Assessment Report (DBAR) (attached). The application for environmental authorisation has been submitted to the national Department of Environmental Affairs and you now have 40 calendar days within which to undertake your review and provide comments. If you wish to submit comments, please do so in writing on or before 30 April 2018.

As part of this process a Heritage Impact Assessment was undertaken and the findings and recommendations have been integrated into the DBAR. If however you would like to have sight of this report as well, please let me know.

I look forward to receiving your comments.

Kind regards
Kevan Zunckel

Thanks, Lis.

D. Replacement accommodation: the concessionaire is required to construct replacement accommodation including 12 beds on a site identified and approved by SANParks to maintain the same inventory for SANParks in Skukuza.

One concern here is that existing public infrastructure will be privatised again, re. Waterkant guesthouses. It is economically questionable, is it not, as those two guesthouses make roughly R 1 000 000 per year for SANparks, with minimal outlay. The added accommodation above is impossible to replace the luxury guesthouses, unless it is built on the river, which would be a major development.

Also, the Selati restaurant will be open for public again, according to this. That is in stark contrast to the approach taken against the previous owner of Selati, who were mercilessly hounded out of the Park due to them being competition for the new restaurant franchises in camp. All very curious.

The site of the new guesthouse is then in the yellow circle:
