Re: Rustic camps ?
Rustic camps are good, but SP must adjust their rates for these new self rustified rustic accommodation units!
Sometimes it’s not until you don’t see what you want to see, that you truly open your eyes.
Re: Rustic camps ?
Parliament in Session - June 2013
Mrs Sandy Kalyan (DA) asked theMinister of Water and Environmental Affairs how many hotels and lodges SANParks intends to build in the Kruger National Park until the end ofthe 2017/18 financial year, whethe rany hotel and lodge developments other than the Malelane and Skukuza developments are being planned and what the current status is of the proposed Malelane development.
The Minister of Water and Environmental Affairs, Ms Edna Molewa, replied: The following hotels and lodges are planned, and depending on funding and feasibility, may be built in the Kruger National Park in the next five years: Malelane Safari Lodge, Skukuza Conference Lodge, Shangoni Lodge (the site is still to be determined but will be on the periphery of the park and possibly outside the Kruger National Parkboundary). Smaller rustic tent camps with between 5 and 8 tents per camp are planned for Shingwedzi, Letaba,Talamati, Satara, Orpen and Berg-en-dal. Detailed planning for Malelane Safari Lodge is progressing well.

Letaba Mopani rustic camp site
New rustic tented camp
Pafuri rustic campsite
Nwaswitsontso River rustic campsite
This is all new! But in line with the "Vision"...
No. 2 is probably a repetition/admin cockup, and No. 1 could refer to Tsendze upgrade or something?
Personally, I think it's fine and spread out, and shouldn't have too big an impact? Tsendze has obviously set an example!
