The H3 is a road of three parts, one may say.
The Southern part passes through the Malelane mountain bushveld zone, quite distinctive with the highest mountains in the Park to the West.
Around Afsaal there is the mixed Terminalia/Bushwillow zone with a number of prominent granite outcrops, quite different.
North of this one enters more rolling thornveld on Gabbro, different again!
All areas regularly produce the big five, and wild dog , hyenas and cheetah are also often seen.
The main rivers in the area are the Mbyamiti and Mlambane, both with catchments entirely within Kruger Park, so free from outside interference.
