What astounding pics, Peter! ^Q^ ^Q^ ^Q^ ^Q^ ^Q^ ^Q^

How would you rate the waterholes mentioned before on this scale, in your own experience?

Example (Gardenia):

A- Shade (5/5)
B- Closeness to the water (5/5)
C- Rare mammal species (3/5) (All predators, black and white rhino)
D- Proximity to a camp/gate (ease of access) (3/5) (Malelane, B&Dal, Byamiti, H3)
E- Remoteness (off the main roads) (3/5)

= 19/25

Best sighting: surrounded by elephant for 30min

Boyela North of Shingwedzi has been Awesome for me in the last Decade ..Epicentre of the largest Lion Pride in Kruger and the area is home to 60% of Krugers Roan Unfortunately when the Roan and SOMETIMES Eland come and drink its shooting right into the sun

Shade = Zero but its not important when Stuff like Roan are drinking at their set time = 2/5
Closeness to Water ...60 metres to the trough and 200 metres to the resevoir ..Fine for a 400mm lens on a crop factor camera and 600mm lens on a Full Frame camera = 4/5
Rare Mammals = 10/5 Pride 34 lions , 60 % of Krugers Roan a herd of 15 come and drink, Eland , the only place in Kruger where they relax a bit while at the trough , A leopard comes at 07h00 some days
Near Camps (Sirheni and Shingwedzi ) 4/5
Remoteness : Remote but on the main road H4-7 but great parking for 1 car ..Mine when I am in camp 3/5

21/25

You may be lucky to see the Famous Mega pride at Boyela ..But I found them this morning drinking at the Mpholongo River 1 km from the Sirheni Turn off about 7 kms from Boyela Windmill in the golden hour just after sunrise..there were only 29 lions present as the Big Males were elsewhere
