The S27 is a short turnoff from the S25, just before Crocodile Bridge camp.
This road leads to the Hippo Pools, a scenic spot on the Crocodile River, where you can alight from your vehicle to appreciate the view. (Do take care as there could be Kitty cats about)
It used to be a favourite of ours to visit when Daniel Mabasa was still employed by SP before his retirement. He had so many interesting stories to tell and he must have met so many people either local or overseas travellers, during his working career.
We for one will miss seeing him going about his business and taking a walk with him at the Hippo Pools.
Here he can be seen standing on the rock surveying the area over the river.

Elephants can often be spotted cooling down in the river, as well as Crocodiles, Buffalo and of course Hippos. Fish Eagles can also be seen along the riverside.
This road is only 8km from the Crocodile Bride camp, which makes is perfect for a quick late afternoon drive.
The S27 is only a mere 2 kilometers (1 miles) long.

love this place too and Daniel was a so good friend (when he still worked there)

there is already a flavour of the Month... April - May 2017... but it's good for me I will no need to search someone to make the next month(s) ...
