It was a dirt road then, all the way to Skuks. The S-104 was the bit that just went to Albasini...no gate at Phabeni.

Like Flutterby said im sure there is stories behind all the pictures in the photographic competition. Well here is mine... Hope you enjoy 0() 0()

While traveling early one morning in Kruger National Park on the S1 between Phabeni Gate and Skukuza i encounter a traffic jam. I approached with caution and asked a safari vehicle what they had seen. The guide told me that there was a leopard lying in a tree but has moved off. Great just my luck, missed a leopard by a few seconds or did i…?

Vehicle after vehicle left the sighting and eventually i was the only vehicle left. I decided to scan the area to see if this elusive leopard would display itself again. 10 minutes went by and still no luck so i decided to head off. Just as i switched on the vehicle i looked in the review mirror and to my amazement the leopard was in the middle of the road quenching its thirst from a small hole in the road that had filled up with the previous nights rain.

I turned the vehicle around and was able to capture this magnificent scene that had unfolded in front of me. The leopard stayed with me for approximately 10minutes before it decided to move off in the bush on the opposite side of the road. This is a sighting that i will never forget! We traveled the road again in the afternoon to find a traffic jam at same spot as the morning. There she was again sleeping away in a tree far in the distance!
