It is a cultural thing .If something is not tied up , or locked up or behind a fence/wall or being guarded by some one , then that thing does not belong to anyone , and therefore , one can take it --- it is not stealing .
For instance , if you leave a bicycle on your frontstep overnight , without locking it up , and if you do not have a fence , then the perception is that it does not belong to you , or you do not want it .
Therefore any passer by can remove , and then it would not be looked upon as stealing . He just took it because you did not want it in any event . Taking is not stealing . O**

N4 Road death toll at an all-time low this Easter

TRAC attributes the drop in road fatalities to a number of safety initiatives which were instituted to lessen the response times to roadside emergencies and incidents.

Law enforcement officials maintained a high visibility on the roads.

After the long trek to different holiday destinations over the Easter weekend, weary travellers made their way to their respective provinces. This period is usually marked by reckless driving, drunk driving and carnage on South African roads.

According to Trans African Concessions (TRAC), despite the high traffic volumes on the roads this year, there were no fatalities recorded on the South African section of the N4 toll route this Easter.

The death toll on our roads has dropped dramatically this Easter.

A statement released by TRAC reads: “Twenty-nine accidents were recorded on the N4 from Thursday 18 April to Monday 22 April 2018, which is a huge decline from last year’s 73 crashes.”

At least twenty accidents happened in South Africa, while Mozambique recorded nine. A single road death was reported on the Mozambican side.

“We convey our heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased.”

Traffic volumes increased considerably over the Easter weekend and TRAC documented about 2 450 cars passing the Middelburg Toll Plaza. Monday was also a very busy period at the Ressano Garcia and Lebombo border posts.
“Traffic flowed smoothly at the international crossing throughout the weekend,” the statement continued.

High volumes of traffic were recorded at the Middelburg Toll Plaza.

TRAC attributes the drop in road fatalities to a number of safety initiatives which were instituted to lessen the response times to roadside emergencies and incidents.

Motorists have been observing the rules of the road which contributed immensely to safe Easter weekend.

“Another contributing factor was the high visibility of traffic and law enforcement authorities throughout the 570km route.”

The high law enforcement visibility along the N4 no doubt played a pivotal role in ensuring that motorists and other road users adhered to the rules of the road and contributed to the significant drop in road deaths.

“This achievement would not have been possible without road users’ cooperation and TRAC thanks all motorists for their efforts,” the statement concluded.

The section situated between Kaapmuiden and Magnesite Mine at Kaalrug intersection, a project covering 15,5km will include upgrading the carriageway to four lanes and rehabilitation of the existing road. This R340-million project will start in August 2019 and is expected to take 24 months to complete. Other upgrades on the N4 are ongoing. N4 roadworks ahead of the long weekend

Here is where you can expect delays:

Traffic is expected to increase as the school holidays commence this long weekend.

According to TRAC N4’s website, www.tracn4.co.za, the following roadworks could impact your travel time this weekend:

Belfast to Machadodorp

• The major upgrade and rehabilitation project between Belfast and Machadodorp is underway. The existing road to Machado R541 has been closed, but the R36 can still be used for access to and from Machadodorp.

Schoemanskloof to Crossroads to Bambi

Rehabilitation of the existing road is underway, with the project scheduled to be completed this month. Two stop-and-go’s will be implemented to accommodate the traffic until end of June 2019 with an expected 20-minute delay at each of these points.

Montrose to Alkmaar

Rehabilitation of the existing road has commenced. The scheduled completion date is June 2020. You can expect stop-and-go’s and lane closures throughout the duration of the project.

I wondered why there was so much traffic going towards Kruger today! ..0..

The road works didn't really hold us up, and no stop and go's. \O

Lots of roadworks all the way from Belfast to Machadodorp in both directions, plus stop-goes on Schoemanskloof! O-/

Add at least 15 minutes even when taking tunnel road.
