Thank you Klipspringer. I actually think it may be D. exilis. I have asked the expert on African dragonflies, K-D Dijkstra, for help.
As soon as I hear anything, I will let you know.

Re: Madagascar Insect Identification
For Madagascar you need really an expert, I bet 60% of the dragonflies are endemic and for the Orthoptera, I would think an even higher percentage is endemic (and the remainder are then referred to as undescribed species ).Mark Eising wrote: ↑Mon Jul 27, 2020 3:21 pm Thank you Klipspringer. I am curious to hear what the expert has to say
Meanwhile you could entertain us with some other wildlife, maybe you have seen some cool birds, chameleons, lemurs whatever.

Re: Madagascar Insect Identification
This mating pair is a species in the subfamily Eyprepocnemidinae (Acrididae), very distinctive eye!Mark Eising wrote: ↑Sun Jul 26, 2020 11:57 am Found at Nosy Komba, Madagascar on 21 February 2020. Hope anyone can help with identification.

A Eyprepocnemis sp. or Heteracris sp. (the latter less likely)
Eyprepocnemis smaragdipes (looks a bit different from the only photo I found) and Eyprepocnemis brachyptera are recorded, but I am sure, there are many more unrecorded
