Now that is an almost PC new bird name from way back when! No wonder they attack harmless Chameleons that look purple, or is that indigo, in the setting sun?
Surely you have all heard these birds when they call...the name is soon to change again, as Violent is too typical of New South African human nature. Their call is quite musical, so the new name WILL BE... Violin Verreaux's Starling.

Re: Proper Good Old Bird Names
I present to you the South Georgia Pipit:
I'm pretty sure Verreaux and company would be licking their lips at renaming this one, were they still alive and speaking to their relatives after their ghastly sexcapades...
Now this poor bird, obviously not the pick of the bunch, has had the onerous name attached to it...
Verreaux: "Zis is unacceptable! A new name is required!"
Levaillant: "Agreed!...and may I marry your ..."
Vereaux: "NO Can you not see zat I am buzy plotting ze overthrow of ze pipit!"
Levaillant: " ...mercy, that creature should be shot!"
Verreaux: "I am on ze case, but I do not know where South Georgia is...I shall leave it to future generations!"
Levaillant: "So may I marry your..."
