Hyenas snag warthog kill from lions

Warning! Harsh scene.

What seemed to be a calm morning turned into a multi-species battle to eat - and not be eaten. To the amazement of the onlookers, in the midst of the chaotic hunt, the lions had managed to catch a panicked warthog. The warthog began fighting and screaming and continued fighting for about fifteen minutes.

Cackling hyenas rob a lioness of her dinner

Just because you caught your dinner, doesn't mean you get to keep it.

A lioness's hard work to capture a warthog came undone when a cackle of ravenous hyena descended upon her. At first the lioness tries to ignore the bleating hyenas but quickly realises this is a fight she won't win as she backs off, leaving her kill to the scavengers.

This video was filmed in the Serengeti in Tanzania by Kitty from Africa Odyssey.

I love the Balule Camp Hyena Den at the bottom corner in the camping section as you can take your time and eventually on day 3 of our stay one male lay in the open and I was able to get low and poke a lens through the fence for a portrait
