I know that the southern Sable populations are well known for having cows that are much darker than other populations, but they are still usually lighter in colour than bulls.
I wonder if a cow and the calves met up with a batchelor herd? They may have become split from the main herd?
Otherwise, how old are immature bulls when the dominant bulls throw them out?

Sherryl says it's Satara/Muzandzeni area, and so the normal types there....females lighter if one looks back on the thread? Definitely bulls?
Saw the same at Talamati last week, one bull leading the herd, with one other adult bull, also black, in the more mixed herd...

Dr Whyte agrees with Dr Dewi...the cows can get darker than one thinks. He guesses only one adult bull, and the red one a young bull!

Ranger buddy thinks they may ALL be cows! (No clear bull)

Dr Joubert says max 2 young bulls, probably one, the rest adult females! The red one may be a male too!
