NEWS FLASH!!! PARK RANGER KILLED BY POACHERS IN KNP

South African National Parks (SANParks) today announced fatal shooting of a field Ranger in the Kruger National Park in a poaching incident.

According to reports, the field Ranger and his colleagues made contact with a poaching group that they had been tracking, supported by the K9 unit.

It appears as they approached the group, shots were exchanged, seriously injuring him in the upper body.

A doctor was flown in to stabilize him but unfortunately he succumbed to his injuries en route to the hospital.

Reacting to the news, the CEO of SANParks, Fundisile Mketeni expressed his heartfelt condolences to the Ranger’s family, colleagues and associates saying “we would like to express our sincerest condolences to his immediate family, colleagues and associates."

The name of the deceased cannot be released as his next of kin have yet to be informed and his colleagues are receiving trauma counseling.

The SAPS is busy with further investigations. Bulletin has been in contact with Isaac Phaahla, spokesperson of SANParks and we will update our report as information becomes available.

At this stage the exact whereabouts within the park, where the incident occurred, has not yet been made known.
