This is rather uncharted territory, applying to all "boards" across the country's parastatals.

Top-level officials are normally "reprimanded", "censured", "redeployed", "suspended pending enquiry", given "golden handshakes" etc., not effectively fired with immediate effect, like this. (Ja, I know he's "suspended", but in the context this is the kiss of death.)

Boards appoint CEO's, and that's about it, normally rubber-stamping recommendations from the relevant department.

Government, local or national, pays the salaries, so they can fire according to simple law?

Mrs Phosa is a no-nonsense lady, and widely respected here.

RP, I think this country has come to a point of re-consideration!!!

All very well,!! taking into context priority and responsibility!!!

I doubt that the massess would be super impressed by a local politician
advocating the plight of rhino!!!!,.... Yet studies done in this regard
proves that rhino have become a drawcard and sense of attraction in
tourism,...

Economic development and tourism MEC Pinky Phosa reportedly removed board chairwoman Clara Ndlovu from her post for contravening the MTPA Act after she suspended Jacques Modipane without consultation, the Saturday Star reported.

“According to the MTPA Act, a chief executive of the agency can only be suspended or fired after consultation with the MEC,” department spokesman Mohau Ramodibe was quoted as saying.

“In this instance, Ndlovu suspended Modipane without consulting the MEC.”

According to the report Ndlovu was replaced by Fidel Mlombo, effective from April 30.

Modipane was removed from his post after 112 pieces of rhino horn were stolen from the MTPA.

Ramodibe told the newspaper that Mlombo would head the agency until the board’s term expires on September 30.

There is no MTPA Act... 0-

But this is more or less the chain of command! \O

This is more normal, as per Friday's hard copy of the Lowvelder:

Ndlovu has her power base as chair of the Mpumalanga ANC woman's League. She was redeployed to a position of councillor in Ehlanzeni (Nelspruit area) in 2009 after being axed as mayor of Thaba Chweu (Lydenburg) municipality, possibly the worst in the country, where large sums of council money disappeared under her watch. Township residents burnt her house down!

Subsequently she was moved to MTPA board... O** 0*\
