I just got more detail on the "Renoster Fees". There are going to be a few of them in the Lowveld starting with this one in Phala from 28 June. I don't think it will help us to be there as they are going to be Afrikaans music concerts. SANParks HR's are working together with "Renoster Toer" in organising these concerts, and all gate takings go to the HR's.

With the 400 rhino carcass mark having been passed for 2013, the following:

It is impossible, now, to adequately control the various entities entering and leaving Kruger in an official capacity.

Adding Army and SAPS personnel has not stemmed the flow at all.

1. Remove all above personnel, other than specifically trained task forces as per MG Jooste's command.

2. Start the fence, but only under direct section ranger supervision, with base camps being out of cellphone range, and only accompanying rangers being allowed cellphones in Kruger while they are working. Same applying to existing military camps...no cellphones while in Kruger, at all!

3. Move the best, preferably oldest, field rangers to the border, and invest heavily in long-distance mobile radio communication for them, once again, no cellphones. Radio coms only available to headquarters, scrambled as necessary!

4. Being found with a cellphone for any army or SAPS member while on a tour of duty shuld lead to instant dismissal and charges.

No cellphones is simple.
Just kill the feed.

That way you kill two birds with one stone. \O

Give that man a Bells!!! X#X

Cut all cell reception in the park, this will limit poachers communication, ease congestion at sightings and get all who are in the park to enjoy life without techno interruptions! \O

5. Introduce the same cellphone banning for workers and tourists alike at the private concessions in Kruger. Can't say much more, but obviously that is also a source of information. Tourists will understand, and landlines, or part of the Kruger microwave telecommunication system in this case, will be available for emergencies and is easily traceable.

It is time that SP will say: "damn the consequences" and just implement what needs to be done.

Can't do that, yet! Have asked, Sprocks, and SP rely just as much on cell for their own intel! Also human rights for civilians, emergencies etc. Contractors and low-level law enforcement can sign a waiver, as it is their job! \O

The big problem is that the big boss mr Madiot wants to be reachable for his buddies and squeeses that conspire with him.
It will never happen. O/

Rhino were not being poached pre-cell phone era, lets go back there! \O

We all used to drink in the park, big stories when they stopped it, but it has proven to be the right thing to do. ;-)

It will not take long for SANParks and visitors to get used to the idea of no reception. They have operated for many years without it, wars have been won long before the advent of cellular communication. Not a huge sacrifice in my eyes to save a specie from extinction! \O
