Not sure why an "independent" should be brought into the equation...can't SP decide by itself?
But maybe a good thing?
The "Kruger sightings" link makes for a very good read, regarding CSI stuff, but it is really obvious this cub has been crushed, IMO.
The "wetness" around the head is body fluids seeping into the fur from the front/mouth, which cannot be seen clearly in the pic, but typical with roadkill.
The back end has been squashed, as leachy says.
But maybe a good thing?

Could it not have been killed by a predator, THEN run over by a car as it was laying in the road?
