Walking with Grizzlies

Post by Dewi »

Aha! But what about the monster Kodiak Island Grizzlies?" RP asked somewhere on my last TT after I'd corrected him that the Polar Bear was the largest of the bear species.

"Darn the man." I thought. I'm gonna have to prove it now.

So the seed was sown.

I e-mailed Will at Natural World Safaris.

"You got anything going in Kodiak to see Grizzlies?" I enquired.

"Better than that." Came the reply. "We have a trip walking with Grizzlies in Katmai National Park in Alaska. Are you interested?"

I was.

I booked.

Then this week, there was a TV programme on in two parts showing the very same Bears that I'm going to walk with.

I'm now a bit nervous.

If you have Discovery channel. It starts on 12th May.

Keep an eye out for "Great Bear Stakeout"

Oh crap! What have I let myself in for?

On the bright side, I will have a glamorous assistant at my side throughout the trip. My niece, who lives in Chicago, was stupid enough to take up my offer of joining me on this trip. If I had no clue as to what Iwas letting myself into, she has an eye-opener in store when she realises what this adventure will entail?

It's your fault RP. -O
