So I have been trying to get my head around Black and White... something I really struggle with. I just don't know what makes a good Black and white photograph.

I'm not sure which camera you have but a tip that I have tried is to set the picture style in camera to monochrome . I take in RAW and Jpeg...so the jpeg will be monochrome but the RAW will be in colour as you took the photo. That just helps me a bit when I actually see the photo on my camera screen in monochrome. :)
